Ever been in a scenario where you need to make a few edits on 100s of landing pages?

I know, it is certainly a Marketer's nightmare.

To solve this pain point, we introduced Global Blocks.

The global block looks like any other section of the page.

It can be added to any number of pages with just a click.

Editing a global block is a breeze. For example, if you make one edit on a particular global block, that edit will be reflected on all the pages that contain the said global block.

This saves a lot of time and helps marketing teams create landing pages at scale.

Pretty interesting, isn't it?

In this article, I will show you how to create a global block and add it to a landing page. Also, I will talk about how to edit, unlink/convert, duplicate and delete a global block.

Let's get started!!!

How to Create a Global Block:

There are two methods by which you can create a global block

  1. Convert an existing section as a global block

  2. Create a global block from scratch

I will explain both these methods

Method 1: Convert an existing section into a Global Block (or) Linking a section as a Global Block

Let's say you have a section on the landing page and you wish to use that section on multiple pages.

The most easy to way to accomplish this is by converting that desired section into a global block.

Let's learn how

  • Go to the section that you wish to save as a Global Block.

Select that section using the observer.

In the video below, I have shown you how to select a section using the observer. Please take a look at it.

  • Once you have selected the section, you will see the 'Save As Template' Icon in the Observer. Click on that.

  • Add a Name for your Global block and then, turn ON the toggle that says 'Save as Global Module'. Finally, click 'Save to Library'.

  • Once you have done the saving, the particular section will get saved as a Global block.

Method 2: Create a Global Block from scratch

You could also create a global block from scratch using the Global Block Builder.

Let me show you where you can find the global block builder.

You will find the Global block builder on the main dashboard. Please see the screenshot below.

  • Click on 'Create Global Block' to begin building your global block.

  • Add a name for your global block and click 'Create Global Block'.

  • Once you click ' Create Global Block', you will enter the Global block builder.

  • The global block builder is like your typical landing page builder. The only difference is that you can build only one section in the global block builder.

All the modules that are available in the landing page builder are also available in Global Block Builder.

It is also possible to add popups in the global block builder.

If you are new to page building, want to learn more about the page-building process. Please click here

  • Once you have created your global block, please click on 'Save'.

  • Now, Click on 'back to dashboard'.

  • You have now finished creating the global block from scratch.

How to add and publish a global block on your landing page:

Now, let's learn how to add and publish a global block on your landing page

Let's begin

Once you have created a 'Global Block', you can easily import it to any landing page from our templates library.

  • Go to the landing page where you want to add/import the global block.

  • Enter the builder mode and scroll down to the end on the right panel.

You will find the 'Browse templates' option.

    Click on it.

  • Select the 'Global Blocks' tab.

Under the global blocks tab, you will see all the global blocks that you have created.

  • Click the desired Global Block from this list and then, click ' Load Template'.

  • The global block will be added to your page. In the left panel, you can identify the global block through the ' Green Globe icon'.

If you see a see 'Green globe icon' on the section in the left panel, it means that the particular section is a Global block.

Let me show you how a global block looks on the left panel. Please see the screenshot below.

  • Now, we have to publish the global block. To accomplish this, first, we must go back to the dashboard. Click on "Back to Dashboard"

  • Now, we have to go to the Global Blocks tab and select the global block that we just added to the landing page.

  • After you select the global block, you will enter the dashboard of that global block.

It will look like this. Please see the screenshot below.

  • Let's now quickly learn about the various components of the global block dashboard.

If you click on 'Edit Global Block'. it will take to the Global Block Builder. You can edit the Global block there.

If you click on 'Preview', you can preview the Global block in a new browser tab.

On the right-hand side of the Global Block dashboard, you will see a list of page names. This is the list of pages where this particular Global block has been added.

Just beside the page names, you will see a 'View' button. If you click that, it will take you to the published page.

  • Finally, let's publish this Global Block by clicking on the Publish button on the Global Block dashboard.

  • Once click on the Publish button, the button will change to 'Scheduled'.

  • Just refresh the browser tab once, and you will see the 'Scheduled' status change to 'Published'.

I have shown you how to do it through a video below. Please take a look at it.

  • Now, finally, we have to go back to the landing page where this Global block was added and publish the page once.

We have now added the Global Block and published the landing page.

Editing a Global Block:

You have finally published the Global Block on the page.

One day, you have to make a change on the Global Block.

Say, for example, that Global Block is linked to 100 Landing pages.

How do you do that?

Let me tell you how.

Let's talk about editing a Global block.

  • First, go to the main Global Blocks dashboard and select the Global Block that you wish to edit. Click on it.

  • You will enter the Dashboard of that Global Block.

  • Click on 'Edit Global Block' to enter the Global Block builder.

  • You will enter the Global Block builder.

Make the necessary edits on the global block and Click 'Save'

  • Now, Click on 'back to dashboard'.

  • Once you are in the dashboard of the Global Block, click on the Publish button.

  • Once you hit publish, the recently updated Global Block will get added to all the linked pages.

For the sake of example, we considered 100 pages here.

What will happen now is, that the recently updated Global Block will be added to all the 100 linked pages in one shot.

There is no need to go and individually publish all the 100 pages. Amazing isn't it?

Note: When the Global Block is first added to the landing page, it is necessary to publish the landing page once after adding the Global Block.

After that, all the editing and publishing of the Global Block can be handled within the Global Blocks dashboard.
